A Great Resource for Passover People

Every so often, I say something mean about my movement. That would be Conservative Judaism as framed out in the last century and quietly fading into obscurity in this one. Fewer congregations, fewer rabbis, fewer resources, fewer everything. This is not a good time for moderates anywhere. Our period privileges the sharpness of disagreement. There is something about us that likes polarization.

But every so often, we get it right. One of our institutions just published a Passover Supplement that could be useful at a certain kind of seder. It’s literate, but not scholastic; deeply felt, but not trendy, and I like the muted colors of the pages. It’s a set of very short meditations on the elements that constitute the traditional seder.

Here’s a direct link to the Schecter Institute and its fresh take on Passover 2026:

I think it would make a useful accompaniment to anything you do at your seder this year. Take some time to read it beforehand, but don’t read every page at your table. That would make for a tedious experience. Find the material you find most meaningful and concentrate on the bold-face text on the right side of the page.

Blessings to all for a meaningful Passover. This is the celebration we need most deeply, and I hope that your seder is both meaningful and full of joy.
